Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs recently visited Ammunity’s production facilities in Latvia. The visit highlighted the strategic importance of domestic ammunition production and reliable European supply chains.
Ammunity, a subsidiary of Scandinavian Astor Group, is developing its operations as demand for European ammunition production continues to grow. During the visit, the Prime Minister was introduced to the company’s activities and its cooperation with industry partners.
“The Prime Minister’s visit demonstrated the growing recognition of small-calibre ammunition production as a strategic capability for Latvia and Europe. Our objective is to continue expanding production, developing specialised technologies and strengthening Latvia’s contribution to European security of supply, hand in hand with our European partners,” said Kaspars Pollaks, CEO of Ammunity.
The visit comes as the European Union places greater emphasis on expanding defence production. Together with Latvian partner Baltic Bullets and Polish partner MESKO S.A., Ammunity is exploring ways to deepen cross-border industrial cooperation, including through opportunities under the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP).
For Astor Group, Ammunity’s development in Latvia is part of the Group’s broader ambition to strengthen European defence production through specialised industrial capabilities and cooperation across national borders.
