Astor Industry forms the industrial foundation of the Astor Group and is responsible for the development, manufacture, and delivery of advanced components and material solutions to the defense industry and other industrial sectors. The business area focuses on high precision, reliability, and customization, with products that are often used in applications where material properties are crucial to the function, safety, or survivability of the system.
The business includes composite production, micrometal components, sheet metal processing, and precision engineering, with deliveries to customer segments in defense, space, aviation, marine systems, vehicles, energy, and advanced engineering. The business area consists of the following operations:

Marstrom Composite
Marstrom Composite AB, based in Västervik, together with its underlying operations, constitutes one of the Nordic region’s most specialized hubs for the development and manufacture of structural components in carbon fiber and advanced composite materials. The company’s core competence is to realize load-bearing structures for demanding environments where low weight, high strength, and functional precision are crucial—for example, in defense, aviation, space, marine systems, and vehicles.
The company’s own production facilities feature several curing methods – including two autoclaves, the largest of which measures 35 meters – enabling the industrial manufacture of very large structures such as masts, bow towers, booms, and radome solutions. The company has experience in both series production and special projects for global players and participates on an ongoing basis in development collaborations with technical universities in areas such as hybrid composites, FEM optimization, and sustainable manufacturing.
Marstrom Composite AB also conducts preliminary studies, prototyping, and development work. In addition to Marstrom Composite AB, the business consists of:

- Composit Design Sweden, a production unit in Malmö that also carries out autoclave and prepreg-based composite manufacturing.

- Carbonia Composites AB complements Marstrom Composite AB by offering series production in carbon fiber using RTM and vacuum infusion technology, as well as post-processing via 5-axis CNC milling, assembly, and surface treatment. The company uses advanced verification tools such as 3D CAD, FEM, and photogrammetry.
Together, these units form a complete chain for the development, industrialization, and production of customized composite solutions—from concept to final delivery.
Mikroponent & Welas
Mikroponent Aktiebolag, based in Värnamo in Sweden, specialises in chemical etching and micro-precision machining of metal foil and thin sheet metal. The technology enables extremely high accuracy without mechanical impact, which is suitable for applications such as satellite structures, optics, weapon systems and medical technology. With ISO-certified processes, advanced documentation, and high traceability, the company is a sought-after supplier for safety-critical applications.
Welas Oy Ltd is a Finnish company based in Vaasa. Since January 2025, it has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Mikroponent Aktiebolag. The company offers laser cutting, press braking, and other sheet metal processing with a focus on stainless materials and demanding tolerances. Production is optimized for flexibility and short lead times and is used in systems for defense, vehicles, electronics, and test equipment.
