Business area: Astor Protect – Advanced protection and survival systems
Astor Protect is the newest business area within the Astor Group and constitutes the Group’s platform for personal protective equipment, tactical security systems, survival solutions, and ammunition production. The business area was created to meet the growing need for integrated, technologically advanced protection systems for military, civilian, and emergency response personnel in high-risk environments.
The focus is on delivering products that combine operational functionality and high technical performance. The target groups mainly comprise the armed forces of NATO countries with their special forces, rescue services, civil authorities, and industrial operators. The business area currently consists of the following operations.
Airsafe Sweden
Airsafe Sweden Aktiebolag, headquartered in Upplands Väsby, is an established Nordic player with extensive experience in technically advanced textile systems. The company offers a wide range of products within military and civil aviation safety equipment, including parachutes, various safety harnesses, rescue systems, and body-worn textiles for extreme environments. The product range includes the manufacture, sale, service, and maintenance of:
- Personal parachutes, cargo parachutes, and the manufacture of ammunition parachutes
- Survival and evacuation equipment
- Tactical harnesses and carrying systems
- Aviation targets for training and exercises
- Oxygen systems for aviation and parachute services
Airsafe is the exclusive partner in the Nordic countries for Airborne Systems, a global leader in parachute technology, and has been supplying the Swedish Armed Forces since the 1970s. The production of various products is carried out using advanced sewing machine systems, cutting plotters, test stations, and specialized quality procedures in accordance with NATO standards.
In 2025, the company has carried out capacity expansion and production optimisation to meet demand from, among others, special forces, Arctic operations and NATO-compatible airborne systems. Airsafe has ongoing cooperation projects with several European air forces and defence suppliers.
Ammunity SIA
Ammunity SIA (acquisition expected to be completed by December 2025), headquartered in Riga, is Latvia’s only manufacturer of military ammunition and the largest private player in small-caliber ammunition in the Baltic region. The company has a clear niche in high-quality, precision-safe ammunition for small arms, with a customer base in both national defense capabilities and international collaborations. Ammunity SIA has had the status of a company of national security importance since June 2024 and maintains close cooperation with the Latvian armed forces and authorities on robust supply capabilities, technology transfer, and long-term capacity development.
Nordic Shield Group
Nordic Shield Group (NSG) is a company that develops and manufactures modular and scalable secure rooms and spaces for the protection of equipment, high-tech systems, and personnel. NSG is an associated company within the Astor Group, and the Astor Protect business area is part of the development and manufacture of products carried out by NSG and its respective subsidiaries.
